Protecting Affordable Housing
The Alice Saddy Foundation currently owns and preserves 28 affordable homes for adults with developmental disabilities in London. In a housing market where affordable options are increasingly scarce, these homes provide more than shelter — they provide stability, security, and a place to
belong.
A home is more than four walls and a roof. It is the foundation for friendship, community participation, independence, and belonging. By preserving affordable housing, the Foundation
helps ensure that people have not just a place to live, but a place from which to build their lives.
Through the generosity of our donors, we are working to ensure these homes remain affordable and available for many years to come.
Supporting Inclusion and Participation
Since 2021, the Community Inclusion Fund has awarded 38 grants to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the London area.
Many of these grants are surprisingly small — often only a few hundred dollars — but they can make an enormous difference in a person’s life. Grants have helped people avoid eviction, maintain
their independence, access community programs, purchase adaptive equipment, remain safely housed, and overcome barriers that other funding programs simply do not cover
Importantly, the fund is open to people throughout our community and is not limited to those supported by the Alice Saddy Association.
Every Community Inclusion Fund grant is made possible entirely through donations from people who believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to belong.
Educational Events That Inspire and Inform
The Alice Saddy Foundation believes that stronger communities are built through learning, conversation, and understanding.
Our educational events are free and open to the public and explore topics affecting people with developmental disabilities, their families, professionals, and the broader community.
Hosted in partnership with King’s University College and held on the King’s campus, these inspiring community conversations have brought together self-advocates, families, service providers,
students, and community members to learn from one another and explore new ideas. Another event is planned for December 2026.
These events are made possible through the generosity of donors who believe that education and dialogue can help create a more inclusive community for everyone.
Building a Stronger Future
The Alice Saddy Foundation is currently undertaking a $3 million campaign to reduce debt, preserve affordable housing, strengthen the Community Inclusion Fund, and expand educational opportunities.
